What got you interested in being on the Atlanta Ad Club Board?

I’ve been embedded in creative communities every where I have lived, from Orlando to Los Angeles to Atlanta.

It’s a large part of who I am, and it’s important to me that these communities continue to thrive in an ever changing world for artists and creatives.

Being able to be an instrumental part of growing this network and community is exciting and for me, there isn’t a greater buzz generated than when creative people are all under one roof.

How do you think work has shifted with the increase in being remote?

Work has changed drastically in the last 3 years. We went from a society that was completely in-office, to completely remote, and now we are inching back to a hybrid schedule. What did this do?

Well, it flexed our creative muscles – we had to learn on the fly, we had to adapt to the world around us and learn to collaborate in a digital age, which in turn, made us more independently resourceful. In parallel, it gave us greater flexibility and ownership of what work can be and will look like in the future.

What’s one thing most coworkers don’t know about you?

I’ve been in zero gravity.

What are the components of your perfect board meeting? Why?

I think these three things can improve any board meeting: Openness, Precision, and Clarity.

Openness is multi-faceted, it’s creating flexibility for the meeting itself (virtually) but also with ideation. Leaving the floor open to ideas (good or bad), for discussion and evaluation.

Precision is about time. Time is always of the essence, do not waste it. One of my favorite quotes “The concept of waiting bewilders me. There are always deadlines. There are always ticking clocks. That’s why you must manage your time.”

Clarity is also multi-faceted. Where are we going and why? How are we going to get there? And are we all on the same page? Now, what are the next steps and can I get that in writing.
