Matt Joyner
(He/Him)
Creative & Branding Chair, Atlanta Ad Club Board 2021
Executive Producer at Hone Production
What are your personal goals within the Ad Club?
Networking and diving head-first into the Atlanta ad community. I’m a recent transplant after almost 20 years in New York, so I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to get to know so many people in diverse fields.
In your opinion, how can we best support people starting out in the industry?
Be a resource, be accessible, and be inspiring.
I fell into advertising 110% by accident many years ago after joining a last-minute university Ad Club trip to New York, and met many of the mentors that I still look up to today on that trip.
I would not be where I am today without their friendship and support, and I’ve always tried to pay it back by being that kind of resource to those who are just entering the field. It also helps to remind me why I do what I do.
How do you think work has shifted with the increase in being remote?
I think we’ve collectively learned to work smarter.
Meetings seem to run more efficiently (technology snafus notwithstanding), broader collaboration is an easier reality, and out of necessity it seems we’re learning to establish more of a work/life balance. I hope these are things that we bring with us as we venture back towards life that’s a bit more familiar.

Why do you think it’s important to have industry groups like ours?
Industry groups give us an important opportunity to stop for a moment and chat about the industry as a whole – trends, work, opportunities, outreach – which is something that I think is hard for most of us to find time for in our day-to-day lives.
What’s one thing most coworkers don’t know about you?
I’m a (mostly) amateur (somewhat) gourmet cook.
