Meet Our New Vice President-Elect: Savannah Brownlee
We’re so excited to introduce you to Savannah Brownlee, Atlanta Ad Club’s new Vice-President-Elect for 2022 – 2023!
Savannah Powell
(She/Her)
Vice President-Elect, Atlanta Ad Club Board 2022
Account Supervisor, Sparkloft
Why did you want to be on Atlanta Ad Club’s Board?
When the Covid-19 pandemic moved us all indoors, I found myself missing the sense of community we have in the Atlanta advertising world. I wanted to find a way to maintain that connection throughout the challenging times we all faced.
I applied and was selected for the Connect + Communicate committee, and after a year working with that crew I found myself wanting to play a bigger role within the chapter.
I’m honored to have been asked to step up as Vice President and am so excited that we can see each other face-to-face again!
Who is the advertising or business leader that you look up to most?
Sara Blakely. I admire her strong work ethic, civic-mindedness, and her style of leadership – she truly puts others first and has an amazing sense of humor.
I highly recommend giving her a follow on Instagram!
In your opinion, how can we best support people starting out in the industry?
When I first started out in advertising , I was guided by two incredible mentors who helped me discover the path I wanted to take in the industry. AAC can provide an environment in which the next generation of advertising professionals can feel comfortable seeking out and finding mentor-like figures to guide them in the early stages of their career.
I am still thankful for and keep in touch with those who have helped me along my way!
What’s one thing most coworkers don’t know about you?
I’m a voracious reader – I set a goal every year and am currently working on diversifying my genre and author selections.
I love learning about different life experiences and perspectives and/or traveling to different countries without leaving my home.
What’s your dream title in advertising?
Director of Digital Strategy.
From the very beginning of my career, I’ve known I wanted to specialize in high-level strategic media planning. I love taking a client’s KPIs and building out a next-level plan that helps them exceed their short and long-term goals.
I’d like to lead a team of strategists one day!
What community initiatives would you like to see the Ad Club support?
I would love to see us continue to support scholarship opportunities for students seeking a career in advertising. With the rising cost of education, it’s more important than ever for us to support those who want to join our industry – without the barrier of funding holding them back.
If you weren’t working in advertising, you’d be working in ____________?
I considered being an English teacher or Psychologist, but enjoy pursing those passions outside of my career. I have always been a reader and had an interest in psychology, particularly criminal. I’m one of the weirdos who devours true crime content, probably to an unhealthy degree…
